Due to the recent recession life has gotten significantly more expensive. I think that the video depicted this quite well. The fact is that the petroleum, alcohol, tobacco, energy, and mortgage prices and payments are going up. This is due to our economy and we need to bring awareness to this issue. Due to the standard of living rising we it was reported that in 2012 nine hundred and twenty five million people were either malnourished or under malnourished in the world. That’s awful. There has also been a lack of clean water available for people. I think the videos “why study economics” question was answered due to the facts they brought forth. We should study economics because it is apart of our everyday life and it affects us day to day.
Correction: "Due to the standard of living rising, it was reported that in 2012 nine hundred and twenty five million people were either malnourished or under malnourished in the world."
This short video is very interesting in that it brings to attention economics is everywhere. A lot of of simple every day occurrences such as the change in gas prices or higher prices at the grocery store can all be explained through economics. Most people don't think to look at it this way but it is very important that people study economics and educate themselves on why these changes occur.
By viewing this video you can see that economics is everywhere. I enjoy studying economics and I think everyone should for many reasons. Economics lets you know what is going on in the world, outside your community. It also shows you how the world works. Economics is even useful in your personal life, it can help you make better decisions about investing and your mortgages.
This video just shows how economics is used in everyones everyday life and most people don't even realize it. I think everyone should have some educational economics background so your able to make smart decisions in your life and we don't end up having another depression. what do y'all think?
Seeing as though I do know a good amount of people who say they don't "DO" economics, I can see why this video would be created. Without even the smallest insight on whats going on around the world economically, one would be extremely confused and blind sided by the drastically rising prices of every day expenditures. This is how people become poverty stricken. At least understanding why your gas bill is rising along with your home mortgage would help cope with the fact that it undeniably is skyrocketing. Its a well known fact that being informed on the economic downfalls and rises can make people understand the problems that the world is having in the current moment.
I believe it is very important for everyone to pay attention to today's market and economy. Especially for us seniors that are about to graduate because the upcoming decisions will have a huge impact on our paychecks. I find it extremely important to not only focus on America's economy, but pay attention to surrounding ones as well.
Whether we realize it or not, or even if we want it or not, Economics is all around us day in and day out. Someone naive to this fact, such as the man in this video, is simply uneducated. I say this because we all notice the changing gas prices when we drive past a gas station and make adjustments to our habits when we see the prices skyrocket. Many of us in college notice the rise in alcohol prices, and with many of us about to graduate and get jobs and eventually get to a position of getting ready to buy a house, it's darn near impossible not to notice the rise in house prices and mortgage payments. For these reasons, it's pretty necessary for us to be aware of the ever changing global economic conditions surrounding us everyday. Knowing the conditions around us could allow people to make wise financial decisions and plan for the future
I think the video shows that whether you like it or not economics effects everyones lives even if you dont realize it at the time. I feel that the video is trying to show the importance of understanding economics in that it keeps you informed on what is going on around you and how it is effecting your life.
Economics is commonly ignored by the masses as a confusing, irrelevant topic that does not apply in their lives. However economics, especially at the most basic level, is applicable to every adults life no matter what their financial situation is. This economic information includes but is not limited to interest rates and mortgages, oil prices, and personal financial planning. Having significant knowledge on these more personal areas of economics is critical to leading a well-rounded and well-directed life financially and politically.
This video shows that with the recession comes higher prices. If someone doesn't study economics, they may be ill informed about why prices are increasing. It also shows that younger generations don't seem as concerned or interested in economics as they should be.
This video is an example of how everything you do has some kind of economic decision involved whether you really realize it or not. Everything has an opportunity cost with it, the guy in this video didn't "do economics" and in return he kept finding himself in the middle of all the economic problems we are faced with today. Even the littlest decisions have economic value to them, and some things may affect a certain group of people more than others. Being concerned about economics can cause a positive affect on the decisions made on a day to day basis.
In our society today, as depicted from the ignorant man in the video, it is clear that people choose to ignore the signs of the economy. Regardless of whether people are lazy or simply choose to not study fluctuation of the economy, it is a dumb decision to ignore what will continue to effect each of us for the rest of our lives. In my opinion, I have seen the effects on the economy through rising gas prices, and an increase in the mortgage of my first house in Tech Terrace along with my outrageous utility bills. It is evident that in the American economy today, everyone needs to cut back on spending here and there due to inflation. In any case, especially when dealing with economics, lack of knowledge isn't beneficial. None of us want to end up down on our luck upon graduation simply because we chose to ignore the recession by believing we were better off not knowing the truth in the first place. In our every day life, it is very important to continue to study economics daily to understand how to make smart and efficient financial decisions. I personally hope to learn as much as I can from this class, as well as from my own personal study of economics, as an investment for my future.
This video just shows that economics is part of everyday life whether people realize it or not. It ties into gas prices and for some people things as simple as having a job or something to eat. It effects the financial status of every person on a daily basis.
In our society today, it is quite evident that our economy is not doing as well as it has done before. It is becoming more difficult to manage a healthy lifestyle and survive. This video was made to try and reverse the path that is taking place in our world's economy, and shows people what is going on and what can be done for change. As stated in the video, it is extremely important to understand economics and how the economy flows. Each decision made by individuals has an impact on how their every day lives will be ran.
"Why You Should Study Economics" is in my opinion a perfect title for this video because majority of us will keep up with the housing market, alcohol and tobacco prices, or even what the price of oil is doing, and most people that do these things probably really don't realize that it is all economics. I for one do this on a daily basis and I am one that loves to keep up with all of these factors in our economy today. I mean if there is anyone who wants to know why the gas prices are rising, the only way you can decipher that is through economics.
After watching this video, I came to the realization that people don't necessarily realize that several things we deal with each day deals with economics. People do not realize the impact of economics in business, society and the world. From soaring gas prices, to food and alcohol prices, everyone "does" economics. Several people are unaware of all of the economics going on around them and need to realize that without economics, things would be very confusing for us. Whether we notice it or not, we make economic decisions every day.
Economics is a part of almost everything in everyday life whether you want it to be or not. That is the reason that you should study economics. Economics can help you understand why the things that are happening every day happen. Whether it is explaining why gas prices went up, to helping you pick out the right mortgage for your house. With the recession hitting everyone so hard it would actually help the world out if everyone knew the reasons for the things that are happening, and were educated enough to help do something about it. So in essence economics is just a big word for educating you in everyday life.
I wish more people would take the time to study economics because as the video shows and like everyone has said before, economics is everywhere, in everything we do, and it can't be avoided. I took an interest in economics just while taking the introductory course and now it's my major/what I plan on doing with my life. The more I learn about the economy with it's problems and ideas of solutions I could only wish more people in America were educated on economics so it'd be less difficult to get out of the rut the U.S. is in.
Through this video we can clearly see that economics is all around us and effects our everyday life. It is important that we become educated on the topic and keep up with it due to the large impact it has on our everyday life. By staying current and up to date on the topic, we will have a better understanding of the toll it take on the economy, such as gas prices, mortgage rates, etc. The more we know about economics the better chance we have of changing our current financial state. This video perfectly depicts how economics is all around us whether we realize it or not.
This video does an excellent job of showing how economics is tied to the many problems that our nation currently faces. From things as dismal as alcohol and tobacco prices to gas and energy prices rising, economics play a vital role in changing the landscape for how we live. Housing prices and mortgage payments are "through the roof (not literally)" and pollution is threatening our livelihoods and health. This video demonstrates how important knowledge of our economy is for people who are oblivious to that fact.
i believe that we all learn economics one way or the other, by this i mean that students going for business have to take it, but others see it in their daily lives. Everyone should be aware of how the economy is and what is really goinng on with the world.
This video to me shows how economics and the economy impacts everyone's life on a daily basis. Many things in the world are impacted by the economic climate and it effects us all in different ways. Many people don't believe it, but most if not all of their daily decisions effect the economy in some way, so Americans should gain more knowledge about the economic climate we are faced with today.
I believe that is is extremely important that people learn at least the fundamentals of Econmics. The way that our economy has been going latley is is important for the population to understand why these things are happening. Since the U.S. Economy and job markets are no longer only affected by events that take place on our turf, it is important that we pay attention to and understand the economies of other countries too. The Video explains how economics effects us in everyday situations, its a good tool to show everyday people how important learning economics actually is.
Knowing and keeping up with the recent economic news in the world is very important when an individual makes a business decision. Keeping up with it can help someone know when it is the best time to buy a house, invest in stocks, or start a business. Knowing what the people demand and what households are looking for help certain businesses give what the people want, what does everyone else think?
To me this brought a great point! I was never really informed or knew about economics until I got into college and learned more and more through classes. Being educated in economics does not only help you with current events, but helps you with real life problems that we face every day. For example the rise of gas. I never really understood until I was in my Freshman year of college in my macroeconomics class. Knowing what was going on was better than just paying for gas when I didn't really understand why gas kept going up twinty five cents. Granted it did not ease the pain of paying more and more each time, but understanding why the prices were rising helped a little. Knowing our history can help predict the future. So knowing our past economic statuses can help us determine the patters in our economy as well as others. Everyone should be educated in economics, and I am happy to read and learn more about our economy each day.
I feel like this video is a good way to get people more interested in the economic field. Its simple and to the point, and maybe after someone watched it then they would try to find more videos on how economics effects everything.
Why study economics?
Please understand that economics is not simply a science for determining methods of achieving stability. There is just as much philosophy applied to modern economics as reason. Classical, Keynesian and Austrian approaches to economics will seldom produce the same path to solvency and prosperity. There is a reason why Keynes' approach has been overwhelmingly adopted - the same reason the US tax code is thousands of pages ... not one of which stipulates a mandatory income tax (it's voluntary) and the same reason a central bank was permitted. Learning how the economy operates will allow one to better comprehend why gold appears to be more valuable every month but will not allow anyone to interfere with the inevitable demise of fiat currency. The best reason to study economics in my opinion is to gain some perspective on why policy decisions are made, what will be the likely result of those decisions and how to act accordingly for an individual's (firm or household) best interest.
After watching this video I feel that it is silly to say you don’t do economics because you are affected by it whether you like it or not. If you want to buy your first house you must have an understanding of the housing market. You have to understand that the interest rate might change on your mortgage. If you have a family and you want to put your child in a good public school, then you have to find a town with a good economic climate. When a town is economically prosperous, the public school is likely to receive more funding. You will do economics if you care about your future!
Once I finished watching this video it helped me understand that individuals are constantely "doing" economics. We are always checking on economic statuses and reviewing economic statistics before involving ourselves in purchases, when we take time to read the newspaper, or watch the news. Economics is all around, and especially important as we get older and more involved in purchasing, and making our own adult decisions that directly affect individual, and household incomes. If we pay more attention to it now, as young adults, we can better our economic and financial future.
As you view this video it really illustrates how much economics affects every single persons life. It doesn't matter if you are an economics major or not, you still encounter it in ever thing you buy. Whether you are a smoker that deals with the rise in prices or you just bought your first house it is something you are faced with each and every day. It is important to look at the market and see what is truly the best deal for you.
Economics is all around us, and it is incorporated into our daily lives whether we want it to or not. It affects your every day life decisions, what you will do today, tomorrow, or a month from now. You should study economics because it is so important to your life. That way you can be better informed on economics, and make better economic decisions. Ultimately saving you money in the long run.
This video illustrates how economics are involved in everyday life. There are many people in today’s world who claim “that they don’t do economics”; however, every person is involved in economics in some way or form.
It is important to study economics because it affects our daily lives. Whether it is soaring gas prices, job losses, inflation or increased tuition, economics has a major impact on people's lives, no matter what age, gender, religion, or race. It is vital not only to be aware of what is going on, but also to understand it. Economics helps us choose goods and resources in an efficient and effective way, to prepare for a brighter future.
This is a very good video about the general principles of economics. it shows that economics is important in every day life such as gas and oil prices to the tobacco and alcohol prices. the study of economics will make a better future and understanding of America!
Studying economics is an excellent way to learn about a wide range of fascinating disciplines – history, politics, culture, finance and more. Informing yourself about how and why governments and businesses operate will give you insight into how the world works. In addition, it will enable you to make informed, logical decisions on a daily basis, and can help answer difficult by using established principles and knowledge to develop an understanding of the situation.
This video makes a short but great point and shows you just how much of an impact economics makes up our daily lives. Weather it be fuel prices rising in your town to suffering people in another country across the world it can be only a useful asset to learn economics.
I like this video because it shows that economics is around you where ever you are. I think it's very important for people to study economics because it helps with every day decisions. Economics are all around you, spanning from things like gas prices to tobacco and alcohol prices, and to your mortgage.
Economics has a major impact in todays society. Watching the market everyday can help make reasonable decisions when managing money. Supply and demand causes influxes in prices in the market. House prices and bills for houses can be a controlling factor when dealing with people everyday. Being aware and understanding the economic situation in todays market helps people make rational decisions.
This video is interesting because it just shows how we use economics EVERYDAY! Economics is definitely important to the world! (obviously) It's always important to know what is going on around you like knowing why the economy changes all the time. This video is a good example to show people that we cannot live without Economics. Understanding economics is so important in the life choices people make.
I found this video interesting because it helped shed light on why economics are important. There are to many people who dont understand what is going on in this economy, much less the global economy. The video really emphasized how everyone needs to pay attention to economics because it effects everyone in some form or fashion.
this video made me realize that economics is a part of my life every day. A lot of the current problems today can be solved through economics. Every one should study it so that we can all do our part to get the u.s. Economy back to what it was
This video depicts very well why economics is important for everyday life. A person who does not know anything about economics will not be able to make crucial financial decisions in the future. Economics can help a person understand the opportunity cost of certain actions. By predicting the future economic status of a market, one person could hold out on buying a certain product knowing that the price will soon fall and save money. I believe it is important for everyone to study a good amount of economics to be able to be prepared for the future.
This video displays a sad truth about American society, alot of the population do not pay attention to economics and the impact it has on their daily lifes'. People need to start paying attention to the world around them and how it impacts their life so they can be prepared if something does not go their way. Understanding economics comes in handy everyday by helping us make wise decisions.
I enjoyed this video because it explains tough economic terms were everyone can understand them. We see economic decision being made everyday and we don't even notice it. The smallest of things from a spike in the price of apples to gas lowering 10 cints over night. These decisions happen daily all around us.
I really like the way this video was created and the message it was sounding out. There's not much of the youth that understands and realizes how important economics really is. It is very beneficial and pretty much mandatory if you want to fully succeed in life and making the right economical decisions for yourself and or if you have a family to provide for.
Studying economics is in my opinion is essential, especially in the present day with our struggle to come back from recession. Every decision made financially, not only in the united states but globally have direct effects on our daily lives. The video does a good job of depicting the big picture and stressing the importance of acknowledging how ignorance toward things going on in the world is stupid. The many examples listed are just a few of the many things that will effect not only us as individuals, but also our parents, children's, the nations, and the worlds lives. Ignorance on life-changing and ongoing issues is not bliss, it's lazy and irresponsible!
The study of economics is very important for the youth as well as the older generations all throughout the world and this could not be more important than into todays society due to the struggles going on. The daily financial decisions around the world effect everyone from all aspects of life, this video does a good job in depicting that and stresses that ignoring the fact is not only ignorant but very catastrophic to our society. As the video stresses it is not only going to effect our lives but the lives of our children and our children's children. The couple of examples stated in the video are just a small slice of the "pie" and many more issues are out there. For an individual to be capable of making crucial financial decisions in life one must understand at the very least the basics of economics.
This video illustrates that, we Americans, whether we know it or don't, are using economics in our every day decisions. On whether a college guy chooses to buy one 30 pack instead of two because of price, or whether he decided to put off a trip to Houston from Lubbock because gas prices and airline fares are up. But it is the ones that understand economics that actually know why and how their decisions are being influenced and that is what this video illustrates beautifully.
This video may be short but it gets the point across that economics plays a big part in todays world. Although economics may seem to be a boring subject, it is key that everyone learns as much as they possibly can about the role economics plays in todays world because everyone is affected by it and needs to know how it affects this world in order to succeed. For example, all the increases and decreases in the prices of many goods and services are a result of economics.
This video shows that economics applies to life's everyday tasks around the world. Many people seem to believe that economics doesn't effect them. However, this could not be any more false. I like how the video depicts, sort of, the "average joe" in America. The character begins with an ignorant attitude towards economics, then slowly begins to realize just how big of an impact the science has on his life. I believe everyone should at least have some foundational knowledge in economics. It is a crucial asset in order to grow, learn, and succeed as a country. I mean, what would happen if everyone had that types of an attitude toward economics?
This video is very interesting because a lot of people, mostly students do not believe they need to know the basic fundamentals of Economics. Since I have been in college, my Econ classes always decrease as the smester goes on. But they do not relaize that elections and campaigns talk a lot about how they will improve our economy and if you are ignorant to the basic of their beliefs, it is easy to become and uninformed voter. Econmics is very important because you are able to understand how every firm and household in America works together.
This movie displays that economics consumes our lives. Every decision made weather in a house hold or corporate big business effects economics. It is an important study that people should come to know and understand.
